27th March 2021 – MBACT News Update

Covid19

After a long winter of Covid19 Lockdown our canal is beginning to open up. The Canal and River Trust (CRT) recently updated their Guidance based on the Welsh Government regulations. You can find out more on CRT’s Coronavirus and boating FAQs page.

Fourteen Locks Canal Centre

The Fourteen Locks Canal Centre is closed and is only providing takeaways currently.

Due to Welsh Government regulations: the cafe will be offering a takeaway service between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m weekends only. Unfortunately, we cannot allow access to the toilets. The Canal Centre Reception and Shop will remain closed until restrictions are lifted.

You can check the current status of the centre on our Fourteen Locks Canal Centre page.

On Friday to Monday over the Easter weekend the Canal Centre is running Easter Trails for children aged 3 to 11. Only £2.50. More information on our Facebook page

Community Boats

Our Community Boats at Goytre Wharf are not running due to the Covid regulations. We have taken the opportunity to do some winter maintenance on the boats. All work has been done adhering to Welsh Covid restrictions. Lord Raglan has had regular charging of its batteries. Edith Elizabeth has been taken out of the water and had its hulls cleaned and repainted. We plan to put Edith Elizabeth back in the water after Easter. We look forward to starting our boat trips again, but only when it is safe and legal to do so. We continue to follow Welsh Government and CRT regulations and guidance.

Our Website

You may have noticed that we have a new website. Over the past few months we have totally re-written and modernised the website. We hope that you find it useful and informative.
