Fourteen Locks Canal Centre Manager

This is a unique opportunity to manage a popular visitor attraction based in High Cross, Cwm Lane, Newport, Gwent. The Centre Manager has day-to-day management responsibility for the running of the Centre, and is supported by a Deputy Manager and an enthusiastic and dedicated Volunteer Team.
The Centre functions as an information-hub for the Cefn Flight of Locks and the Mon & Brec Canal as a whole. It also has a small gift shop, meeting room and cafe, the latter being under separate management. The Centre is a popular venue which, in pre-pandemic times attracted 50,000 visits a year. The Centre is run as a Community resource on a not-for-profit basis.
The role is for 4 days per week at a gross salary of £1,600 per calendar month (£2,000 full-time equivalent). The initial contract will be for a period of 12 months, renewable thereafter. A Job Description and Terms of Employment summary can be obtained by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org

We are looking for an Information Officer to manage communication with our Members, stakeholders and the press. This voluntary post would suit someone with good writing skills, who is comfortable working with word processors such as MS Word, email, and is familiar with posting to social media such as our Facebook page, Instagram and our News on this site. The role involves actively seeking out stories about the Trust and its activities, writing these up and presenting them in an engaging and accessible style for posting to social media and publication to our Reed Warbler magazine. A detailed briefing about the Trust and its activities will be given.

Other Volunteering Opportunities
Our Trust only exists and functions because of the dedication of our volunteers. We welcome offers of assistance whether it be to work on the canals cleaning up rubbish, cutting back undergrowth, organising events, undertaking administrative work, helping to run our Community Trip Boats, or assisting in looking after our Fourteen Locks Canal Information Centre in Newport.
