Information on our 2024 Boat Trips
Update: for June 2024 we will only be operating “The Lord Raglan” from 11:00am to 2:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The last trip will start at 2:30pm. “The Lord Raglan” is our larger covered boat.
We normally operate our smaller open-sided craft “Edith-Elizabeth” and our larger community boat “The Lord Raglan” from Goytre Wharf. Please note that there is no guarantee which boat is running on any particular day. We will also operate our boats from other locations for special events on the canal. We will publicise in advance below which days we will be running. We normally run our boats for short trips Saturday and Sunday every week but this is dependent on suitable weather, and sufficient volunteers being available to run the boats.
Please check back on this page below that the boat is running on your chosen day before you travel to Goytre Wharf. You can find how to get to Goytre Wharf on our Goytre Wharf visitor information page.
For June 2024 we will only be operating The Lord Raglan from 11:00am to 2:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The last trip will start at 2:30pm. Our smaller boat the Edith-Elizabeth may also be running. You don’t need to book in advance. However, when you arrive please contact our on-shore crew who will advise which time slots are available. You will need to pay when you arrive for your trip, and we will issue you tickets for your reserved slot. On busy days all of the time slots are often reserved by lunch-time and unfortunately we may not be able to accommodate you. There is lots to do at Goytre Wharf whilst you wait for your trip. We take cash or card payments.
“The Lord Raglan” is an enclosed boat with roof hatches that may be open or closed depending on the weather. It has a maximum capacity of 12 people for short trips. Trips on this boat are for 1 hour.
The cost on the Lord Raglan is £8 per adult, £4 per child, under 2 yrs free for a 50 minute trip. Please pay before you board.

The larger enclosed boat, The Lord Raglan, is also available for private hire for longer or special trips. For these trips we can accommodate up to 20 passengers. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and we will be able to discuss with you what we are able to provide on this boat for bespoke trips. Our 2024 charter prices can be found in our 2024 boat price leaflet. To book one of our Community Boats please contact Martin Gillard at boats@mbact.org.uk or by phone on 01633 892167 / Option 3.
Our Boats are licenced to run passenger services and are operated by trained and qualified volunteers. For your added safety, our boats are equipped with life-buoys. We provide a short safety briefing before each trip. We would ask that you pay attention to this briefing and follow the instructions of the crew.
Please pay on arrival for your chosen trip.
