The 29th Newport Scouts volunteered with MBACT on the canal at Ty Coch. The weather held out for the morning and the enthusiastic team split up into 3 groups. The first group did a litter pick along the canal towpath from Pentre Lane to Ty Coch.
The second group cleared one of the the spillways –
– and the third group painted the top gates at Ty Coch.
Whilst all this was going on the Community payback team moved the trailer into the workshop ready to be painted.
A buffet lunch was provided by Fourteen Locks Centre, and was much appreciated. Unfortunately the rain arrived and the afternoon session was postponed. Another date is being penned into diaries to continue the good work.
A busy morning and thanks to Richard, Dave W and Louise for sorting out the PPE and guiding the team and to Torfaen for allowing us to work on the canal.
