Senedd petition – Ensuring the future of the Mon and Brec

A letter has been sent to all members of MBACT encouraging them to sign the Senedd petition aimed at ensuring a water supply to the Mon and Brec canal.

Text of the letter and links are reproduced below.

(please note I apologise for and have corrected the misspelling)

Dear Friends

You may be aware of some of the issues regarding the abstraction
licences which are currently threatening the Monmouthshire and Brecon
Canal (Mon and Brec).

MBACT is committed to supporting the Canals and Rivers Trust in it’s
negotiations with NRW and Senedd to resolve the issues.

Richard Dommett MBE is working in support, but it would be really good
if the Senedd would look at this seriously, and to that end a Senedd
petition has been opened. Support is already over the threshold to raise
the issue, but if it can obtain 10000 signatures the Senedd is mandated
to debate the issue. Numbers are already over 1000, and if each of our
members and volunteers could encourage a small number – say 5 – people
to sign up to the petition that would add over 2000 more signatures.

I attach a press release which MBACT is sending to the press, it has
links to Nation Wales article which I found very useful, and the
petition itself.

Please sign up to the petition, and encourage others to do likewise.
Also note that for your vote to be counted it has to be confirmed in an
email they send you, and some have landed in Spam folders so please
check once you have voted.

Thank you in anticipation of your support.
