We are pleased to report that the slipway at Pontywaun on the Crumlin Arm has been rebuilt by Caerphilly County Borough Council. As we previously reported the slipway had to be removed as part of the work to reline the canal in 2021. We have been discussing with the Council since then to re-instate the slipway to allow canoes, paddleboards, and trail boats to be launched into this section of the canal.
We are pleased that our campaign and constructive discussions with Caerphilly County Borough Council Councillors and engineers has resulted in the work being completed. We appreciate the Council’s support of this important amenity in the Council’s area.
With the re-construction of the slipway and recent local canal dredging works completed, our Trust looks forward to working in partnership with Caerphilly County Borough Council and Islwyn Canals Association to reinstate boating activity on this stretch of the Crumlin Arm.
